Uninstall GEOmatic AI – Safe Removal Guide (Lite/Pro)

If you no longer use GEOmatic AI or are switching solutions, you can safely remove it from WordPress. This guide covers Lite and Pro removal, including license deactivation and optional data cleanup.

Important: Uninstalling the plugin immediately disables all GEOmatic AI features. Any related enhancements or automations will stop.

If You Use the Pro Version #

Uninstall GEOmatic AI Pro first, then the Lite (free) version.
This ensures licensed components are removed cleanly and prevents conflicts.

Uninstall the Lite (Free) Version #

Step 1: Deactivate the plugin #

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
  3. Find GEOmatic AI in the list.
  4. Click Deactivate (visible only when active).

Step 2: Delete the plugin #

  1. After deactivation, click Delete under the plugin name.
  2. Confirm to permanently remove the plugin files from your site.

Deleting removes files. Some database options may be retained (see “Optional cleanup”).

Uninstall the Pro Version #

Step 1: Deactivate your license (recommended) #

Free up the license for other domains or future reinstalls.

Via WordPress:

  • Go to GEOmatic AI > License (or Plugins > Installed Plugins → “Deactivate License” under GEOmatic AI Pro) and click Deactivate.

Via geomatic.cloud account:

  • Log in at geomatic.cloud → My Account → Licenses.
  • Open Manage Sites for your active license.
  • Deactivate the site/domain you’re removing.

Step 2: Delete the plugin #

  1. Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
  2. Deactivate GEOmatic AI Pro (if still active), then click Delete.

This removes plugin files; some options/logs may remain unless you clean them up (below).

Optional: Clean Up Data (advanced) #

If you want a pristine removal, you can delete related options/logs and refresh rules.

  • Options (examples):
    • geomatic_ai_settings
    • geomatic_ai_license_key / geomatic_ai_license_status
    • geomatic_ai_bot_log (Pro)
    • Any transient entries created by GEOmatic AI (AI sitemap cache)
  • Rewrite rules / sitemap:
    • Visit Settings > Permalinks > Save to flush rewrites (removes /ai-sitemap.xml rule).
  • Cron tasks (if any):
    • Using WP Crontrol or WP-CLI, remove scheduled jobs related to GEOmatic AI (e.g., internal loops/cleanup).
  • Caching:
    • Purge page cache/CDN and, if applicable, OPcache to clear any cached /ai-sitemap.xml or assets.

⚠️ Only perform DB edits if you’re comfortable with WordPress internals. Backup first.

Troubleshooting #

  • Can’t delete plugin (folder not removable):
    • Fix file/folder permissions, or rename/remove the plugin folder via FTP/SFTP (wp-content/plugins/geomatic-ai*).
    • Use Recovery Mode if the admin is inaccessible.
  • License won’t deactivate in WP:
    • Ensure outbound connections to geomatic.cloud are allowed (firewall/host).
    • Deactivate directly from your geomatic.cloud account (My Account → Licenses → Manage Sites).
  • Pro license tied to an old domain:
    • Deactivate that domain in Manage Sites, then activate on the new one.
  • /ai-sitemap.xml still loads after uninstall:
    • Likely cache. Flush permalinks and purge page/CDN caches.
  • Multisite:
    • Network admins should deactivate/delete from Network Admin > Plugins and repeat license steps per site using Pro.
