GEOmatic AI Tools: Settings, Sitemaps, Scope & Exclusions UX

GEOmatic AI — Tools Page (User Guide) #

Purpose: Tools is your quick-admin hub for day-to-day housekeeping, safety switches, exports, ownership choices, exclusions, and settings backup. Every action confirms on the same page with a success notice. No blank screens.

1) Safety & Maintenance #

Safety Mode (Enable / Disable) #

  • What it does: Temporarily pauses front-end AI injections (JSON-LD, AI-readable attributes) so you can edit live content without sending premature signals to crawlers.
  • When to use: While drafting or updating key pages, launching a campaign, or troubleshooting layout.
  • How it interacts:
    • Doesn’t delete anything; just pauses output during the window.
    • Cron tasks and queueing continue normally.
    • You can disable it at any time; otherwise it auto-expires after a short period.

Maintenance Window (From / To) #

  • What it does: Automatically turns Safety Mode on every day between the hours you set (site local time).
  • When to use: Nightly edits, migrations, or busy publishing windows.
  • Tips: If your window crosses midnight (e.g., 23:00 → 02:00), it’s still honored.

2) Sitemaps & Caches #

Regenerate AI Sitemap #

  • What it does: Clears the cached AI sitemap so it’s rebuilt fresh on next request (/ai-sitemap.xml).
  • Use cases: After enabling/disabling modules, changing scope/exclusions, or bulk editing content.
  • Interactions: Helps crawlers pick up changes sooner; pairs well with “Flush rewrites” if you noticed a 404.

Regenerate Video Sitemap #

  • What it does: Clears the cached AI video sitemap (/ai-video-sitemap.xml) and rebuilds it on demand.
  • Use cases: After adding video URL, thumbnail, duration, or chapters metadata.

Purge AI Transients #

  • What it does: Wipes small internal caches used by the plugin (safe).
  • Impact: The next crawl/view may be slightly heavier once as things rebuild.

Flush Rewrites #

  • What it does: Refreshes WordPress permalink rules.
  • Use cases: Fixes most 404 issues on AI endpoints after moving hosts, adding modules, or changing structure.
  • Tip: Does not modify your content.

3) Data Export & Logs #

Export Content Report (CSV / JSON) #

  • What it does: Quick links to download your current content/AI reporting snapshots for analysis or sharing.
  • Safe: Read-only; doesn’t change settings.

Open Bot Log / Open Bot Log (Fallback) #

  • What it does: Opens the detailed list of detected crawler visits and trends.
  • Why two links: Some security setups block direct admin links; the fallback route bypasses those checks safely.

4) Settings Backup & Restore (JSON) #

Download JSON #

  • What it does: Exports all GEOmatic AI settings (core + add-on) into a single JSON file.
  • Use cases: Clone a configuration from staging → production, or keep a restore point before a big change.

Import from JSON #

  • What it does: Restores settings from a previously exported JSON.
  • Scope of change: Updates plugin configuration only (not your post content).
  • UX: You’ll get a “Done” message on the same page after import.

5) Scope & Exclusions #

Content Scope (CPT) — Save scope #

  • What it does: Choose which post types (Posts, Pages, custom types) are included in GEOmatic AI features.
  • Effect: Unchecked types are simply ignored (no AI injections on those types).
  • Reversible: You can re-enable any time; existing metadata remains intact.

Exclude URLs — Save exclusions #

  • What it does: Exclude specific paths from AI features and sitemaps (one path per line, e.g., /thank-you, /privacy).
  • Use cases: Thank-you pages, privacy/legal pages, system or gateway URLs.
  • Note: Exclusions reduce noise for crawlers and keep sitemaps focused on SEO-valuable pages.

6) Ownership & Compatibility #

Video Schema Ownership — Save #

  • What it does: Decide who outputs the VideoObject schema: GEOmatic AI or your SEO plugin (Yoast/Rank Math, etc.).
  • Why it matters: Pick one owner to avoid duplicate schema and validation warnings.
  • Safety net: The Diagnostics page surfaces a gentle warning if it detects a potential conflict.

Legacy & Advanced (Quick Links) #

  • What it does: Opens the full “classic” pages (Reporting, Bot Detection, KPI Help, Secondary License) that are hidden from the menu for a cleaner UI.
  • Why: Keeps advanced tools available without cluttering your sidebar.

7) License & Permissions #

License Status #

  • What it shows: “Active/Inactive” at a glance and a link to your license settings page.
  • Why: Faster support and verification during onboarding or site moves.

Permissions — Save permissions #

  • What it does: Allow Editors (non-admins) to trigger certain safe tasks: process queue, regenerate sitemaps, purge transients.
  • Why: Delegation for content teams without granting full admin rights.

8) Developer Aids #

Debug HTML Comment — Save #

  • What it does: Optionally adds a tiny HTML comment in the page source indicating core AI status (invisible to visitors).
  • Use cases: Faster support triage and sanity checks in production.
  • Tip: Keep off by default; enable briefly when diagnosing.

WP-CLI Quick Reference #

  • What it shows: Handy command examples (wp geoai …) for servers that allow WP-CLI, to speed up bulk tasks.

9) Messages & Feedback #

  • Success notices: Every button shows a green confirmation on the same page (e.g., “Done”, “Saved”, “Downloaded”).
  • If something looks off:
    • Reopen Tools to see the latest status.
    • Use Flush rewrites if endpoints 404.
    • Use Regenerate sitemaps after big changes.
    • Check Diagnostics for a quick health snapshot and conflict hints.

Anti-Piracy Notice (GEOmatic AI)

GEOmatic AI is protected by robust anti-tamper, license-verification, and provenance-tagging measures. In accordance with applicable laws, our systems may verify activation endpoints and log network identifiers (including IP addresses) associated with unauthorized access attempts. Any attempt to copy, crack, resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or bypass licensing will be immediately flagged; cases are automatically escalated for legal action where permitted, and we will pursue all civil and criminal remedies available. For your security and integrity of the product, the plugin includes safeguards that trace the original source of illicit distributions; opening or modifying the package files triggers self-protection and automatic deactivation. The software must be installed as-is from the original package—do not unzip/alter internal files. If you experience any installation or activation issue, do not manipulate the code: contact GEOmatic AI Customer Support immediately so we can resolve the problem lawfully and safely.
